First of all u will need to prove that the tape is genuine and not doctored. Secondly it needs to be proven that the contents are true and not false. There r other things which will affect ur case depending on the complaint filed. If u can show on record that the contents are true and correct then u will have a strong case.

Since case is registered with concern police station, so defend yourself. One think, I could not understand that on releasing his objectionable audio, has filed case against you for defaming him. Don't you think both statement are contradictory to each other. Only one can be geniune either audio clip or defamation complaint. Prove the genuineness.

Kindly ensure that the recording was original and save it in other source. If you wish to pursue your case, write an email to your boss and wait for his reply. Try to create as much documentary evidence as you can.
