Yes. A lawyer can trace the status of the case by obtaining the FIR number / crime number, charge sheet details and checking the case status in the concerned court / e-courts portal, and also by filing an RTI/representation to the Cyberabad Police for case progress. Regarding compensation: Victims do not automatically get compensation from seized cash/assets. Amounts seized by police are produced before court and are released only as per court orders after verification of the victim’s claim and supporting proof. Your daughter can file an application before the trial court under Section 451/457 CrPC (interim custody / return of property) or seek restitution/compensation under Section 357 CrPC after conviction. If conviction is delayed, a victim can also seek victim compensation under the State Victim Compensation Scheme (Sec. 357A CrPC), subject to eligibility. Immediate requirement: proof of transaction, bank/credit card statements, emails/complaints lodged, and link to the FIR/case.
