What all will happen and what to do now?

30-Apr-2023 (In Criminal Law)
An auto driver crashed with my side view mirror, damaging it completely. Stopped him after a chase, called the police because he had no intent to apologies, let alone compensate. The officer came and mediated a compromise. I called the service Centre & brought a quotation for the repair cost.(Rs6200).The officer made him pay, Rs6000 via Paytm. Here the officer did not file any complaint or took down any information.Few km in, at a redlight just before our destination, few men on bikes, one was the driver, came through the traffic with bricks in their hand, completely broke the rear windshield, damaged all the side windows & made two huge dents on the front windshield. and then they left.Currently I am at the police station, issuing the complaint and the only info we have on him is the Paytm id he paid with, and the officer who mediated the compromise. Will he be caught? If he is caught then what will the police do? will he be jailed or punished? Will I be compensated for the Damage?

You should immediately file a complaint in writing to the police station of your area or where the incident happened and register a FIR against the culprits. And after registration of FIR the police officials will be duty bound to arrest them and even put them behind bars. For more legal assistance I am just a call away.

The incident happened with you is a very bad example of the society. To answer your question, UPI id is linked with Aadhar card and the police can track the offender via this. The punishment will be according the charges put up by police and thereafter by the court. For compensation you will have to file separate application in court of law.

Not just the driver who paid you six thousand rupees for damaging your car side view mirror completely, but also the people who accompanied the said driver will be liable for damaging your car's rear windshield and also for denting your car for no reason. You have strong evidence like the upi payment made the driver as well as the police personnel who was present at the time of incident.
