Online Harassment and Blackmailing what can be done

08-Jan-2023 (In Criminal Law)
Hi, There is a guy who I used to talk to on whatsapp and calls over the last 5 months and he is currently working and living in Munich, Germany (for the last 3yrs & he is an Indian resident), but his family is based in India. I have met this guy once while he was in India, but when I said that I don't want to be with him anymore, he started blackmailing me and said that would circulate my messages and tarnish my image, though he doesn't have any indecent images of mine but my normal images can be used in a wrong way too. Kindly help as what legal actions can be taken to stop him. Please this is an emergency.

Give a complaint in your local police station stating all the relevant details with his name and address. Take the screen shots of the relevant part of conversation

There are multiple remedy available for this particular problem , you can report this issue to the cyber cell and can also file a criminal complaint by invoking sections of ipc , since he is threatening you for these images , you can file a case of criminal intimidation, obscenity if there is any, extortion if he demands money or in other case also and can so register a complaint to cyber cell.

If he has extended threats to you then you may take following steps:
1. Register a Police complaint against that person;
2. Issue him a Legal notice demanding ur pics to he destroyed and demand for a confirmation in writing.
To my mind, you may choose option 2 as police complaint would be tedious job.
You may consult a lawyer for issuance of legal notice..

You have to file a police complaint to the concerned police station. Based on your complaint they can take necessary action including revoking his passport if it is required since he is an Indian citizen.

In this situation, you may file a criminal complaint before the local police station. You can file a criminal complaint before cyber cell with full detailed, i.e. mobile number, incidents with date, if possible,.
