My father is threatening suicide all the time.

My father is threatening suicide on me and my mother. He feels that he isn't being respected which is why he wants to commit suicide. I don't want him to hurt himself. How do I get him to help? And legally how do I protect myself?
If he indeed commits what he dares you of then you people will find yourself in difficulty as it would amount to offence under section 306 of IPC provided he leaves behind a note to that effect. However, you should fortify yourself before hand.

Secondly to secure yourself you can make an application to the concerned police intimating about his threats of committing suicide.
