If the behaviour of your wife is intolerable towards you then rather dragging your relationship it’s better to file for divorce against her on cruelty grounds. I would suggest you to go for the mutual divorce as it is less money consuming and ends up in max of 6 months. For more legal assistance I am just a call away.

Respected sir Coming from a defence background myself, I would suggest you to not only file a civil defamation case but it also puts in a position to lodge an FIR against your wife for criminal intimidation, criminal defamation and several other offences which will strengthen your divorce case on the ground of cruelty even more. For detailed information, you may consult me in that regard. Good luck!

It may be a ground under defamation case provided all what is being alleged in the civil or criminal defamation case and the person so alleged must prove and justify everything before the concerned court of competent jurisdiction. Unless, as mentioned above, it is proved no relief can be obtained from the court.

Sir defamation is not ground for divorce however you have mentioned that you are already contesting divorce on the grounds of cruelty, which perhaps is self sufficient incase you are available to prove the same.
