Case to be filed against Daughter in law for harrasment

04-Dec-2024 (In Criminal Law)
My Daughter in law has left matrimonial home 4 years back and has filed various false cases against me and my husband and son. I have all evidence to prove my innocence, but due to my health condition and old age I couldn't attend all court hearings. Is there any case that can be filed against her by me such as DVC or any other criminal cases. Or can I approach Police station to file case against her. Will Police accept that. Plz guide as I am unable to bear the mental torture made by her

Dear Madam, Instead of filing any case against your daughter-in-law it is better to approach High Court and get delete your names from the pending cases. The Supreme Court says that the dispute must be between husband and wife and should not be extended to his family members. Once your name is deleted on health grounds etc you may file defamation cases both civil and criminal against her.

Firstly get advice from an advocate providing all records of cases, if you cannot appear court seek exemption the court from attending for initiating legal action its depends on nature of the harassment and incident, you can approach police of file DV if any emergency.
