BNS 351, CRIMINAL intimidation

26-Oct-2026 (In Criminal Law)
I REPORTED MY ROOMMATE FOR DRINKING AND COMING INTO THE DORM, AND HE GOT CAUGHT. HE LOCKED THE ROOM, TURNED OFF THE LIGHTS, AND CALLED HIS FRIEND AND PURPOSEFULLY SPOKE IN FRONT OF ME, SAYING THAT HE'LL KILL ME AND I AM DEAD FOR SURE ( IN HINDI). CAN/SHOULD I TAKE LEGAL ACTION? I HAVE AN AUDIO RECORDING BECAUSE HE INTIMIDATED AND HIS BODY LANGUAGE WAS SHOWING THAT HE'D PUNCH ME A FEW MINUTES BEFORE, HENCE I STARTED RECORDING AFTER EVERYONE LEFT.

You can approach the local police station and submit a written complaint describing the threat, the earlier aggressive conduct, and the existence of the audio recording. The police should assess whether the allegations disclose a cognizable offence or whether the applicable procedure requires a different course of action. If the police do not act, further remedies may be available through senior police authorities and, where appropriate, the jurisdictional Magistrate.
