Can I defend slapping someone because they verbally abused & provoked?

06-Aug-2023 (In Criminal Law)
I was troubled by someone by not returning my money. When I went to inquire at his home, he provoked me by abusing and categorically saying that he won't return the money. I desperately needed my money back as my child is getting married soon. Amongst all this, I ended up slapping him, which became a serious fight. Eventually, I ended up getting more physically hurt. Will the action be against me for slapping first or against him for provoking & causing more physical harm to me?

As a Criminal Lawyer, I can offer some general insights. In situations like this, it's important to prioritize peaceful resolution and avoid engaging in physical altercations. If you find yourself in such a situation, it's advisable to maintain your composure and seek legal assistance immediately. Physical violence can have legal consequences for both parties involved. However, self-defense laws and the specific circumstances surrounding the altercation will play a role in determining legal liabilities. It's best to consult with a legal professional who can review the details of the incident and provide accurate advice based on the laws in your jurisdiction. Feel free to contact me for further legal consultation.
