I would like to see all the documents and agreement if any which you have signed with the institute as only then we can take a legal action against them.
For more information feel free to have a word with me.
All the best

For such purpose we'll have to vet the clauses of the agreements and other documents you've signed while making the payment to them. We'll have to see what assurances and representations were advanced by them initially.

You can file a consumer complaint against the institute for providing false assurances of placement and demand your money back with interest, however, all the documents provided a by the institute have to be read to see if there is a clause saving company from its liability. Moreover a criminal complaint can also be filed against them for inducing you to part with your hard earned money illegally.

You will have to file a case before consumer forum or commission depending on your claim as per losses as incurred(Till 20 lacs in district forum and till one crore state commission).
But before you proceed make a personal representation in writing sent by speed post/registered post
Followed by legal notice and then complaint

it will depend whether the money given by you was for service rendered. This has to be clarified. If they rendered service, show me the agreement or receipt which they must have issued. If you have some papers to show including the mode of payment made to iventure it will help you to make a case for recovery. You will have to show the purpose of giving the money.
