Is it legal for an employee to work for 24 hours

Resected Sir I want to ask " in boys observation homes counsellor duty is 24 hours...?? Sometime counsellor do....but in my knowledge in anywhere in india any employee they cant do work 24 hours.....please give me detail advice.....when our officers have pressure on me what can I do..?
