Cheque bounce risk due to signature mistake what can be done

18-Jan-2023 (In Cheque Bounce Law)
I had issued a cheque but by mistake i had done my new post-marriage signature on it and the receiver has also submitted the same in her bank. I realised it next day that i had done my post-marriage signature and went to my bank to get my pre-marriage signature updated to new signature in my bank account. Can you please how and when i will get to know when my cheque is either cleared or bounced? And what further corrective action i can take in this case.

No need to worry , You can either ask your bank to stop the payment by your own to save yourself from the embarrass issue another cheque immediately or in case if it is not cleared and cheque bounces then too You can convince the bearer about the said mistake and issue another cheque immediately. No issue at all .. you just need to convince the bearer.

In your situation firstly you must convey the true facts to the person whom you have issued that cheque to. If your bank has your updated mobile number then you will get a message on the bouncing/clearance of the cheque. As per what you have stated that you have already approached the bank for the update of your signature so just sit back and relax. If it bounces then a small amount around rs 350 will be deducted. You can ask the person for whom you issued it to resubmit the same cheque once you get a confirmation of updated signature by bank.

Hi. The best thing to do is to approach the bank and tell them the whole situation and keep a tab of the status of the cheque. Bank will be able to give you the correct picture of it. It is better that you give the entire explanation in form of a simple letter / email/ both to the bank official as well as send the same to the receiver of the check. Retain copies of the same with yourself. Things should be sorted out.

Don't need to worry because u have one chance to pay cheque amount when you receive notice under section 138. You have to reply that notice and convey your intention and pay your liability within 15 days of receipt of notice

U will receive the message from bank about the cheque status and also can get information directly frm the bank...and also u should tell about the mistake to whom u issued the cheque n say him nt to deposit n change that cheque.
