Payment Of Dues For Bank Locker In Case Of Death Of The Person

26-Jun-2023 (In Banking / Finance Law)
My uncle had a bank locker. The nominee of which was some other relative and not the actual legal heirs . The nominee has claimed the deceased claim from that account. The locker still seems to be open and legal heirs received a letter at home for payment of dues for the rent of the locker . Should not the locker be closed when nominee has already claimed based on death certificate and who will be responsible for paying the dues nominee or the wife/ children

Two different issues and preposition are involved in the given facts of the matter. One is locker rent, which would be chargeable to person who makes a claim in the locker I.e. nominee in this case. But nominee himself is not entitled to the valuables lying in the locker, being its trusty only, for surviving legal heirs. Contact a lawyer immediately.
