HOW TO DOWNLOAD AND PRINT AADHAAR CARD ONLINE

The Aadhaar project was initiated by the Government of India in January 2009, in an effort to capturing and categorizing the personal details of each and every resident Indian citizen, including the demographic and biometrics details, and linking it to a unique identification number. So, in simple words, Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique Identification number which is issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), that can be used as an identification and address proof, and can also be used to avail various Government welfare schemes by the holder.

An Individual can enroll themselves for the Aadhaar card at a designated Aadhaar enrollment centres, banks or post offices, and once they have enrolled themselves, they should ideally receive their Aadhaar card within 60-90 days from the date of application.

However, if a resident has not received the physical copy of the Aadhaar card, or wishes to use the Aadhaar before the scheduled arrival date of the physical copy, they can download and print the Aadhaar card from the UIDAI website using their enrolment ID, virtual ID or Aadhaar number.
