In order to get EPF pension as per EPF Pension Act 1995

Dear Sir/Madam, My brother is going to retire on 30.06.2017 from a private Company. In order to get EPF pension, whether he has to open compulsorily a joint savings account with his wife OR single account will be sufficient. It is because he has no relation with his wife for long time but not divorced. Kindly suggest remedy.
If your brother has a spouse living on date of retirement, a joint account will be a necessity. So you may advise your brother to open a joint account with his wife. Not doing so may lead to delay in settlement of pensionary benefits
