Convicted in New Zealand, can i apply for study visa in USA/UK

I am an Indian Citizen and got convicted in New Zealand for two charges rolled into one and was given punishment of Restitution which was just some fine and I was given deportation liability and i left the country on my own. The charges were in August 2016. I am wondering if i can come to USA/UK for study of my MBA and would i be able to get work after that ? The charges are minor : 1) Common Assualt (unarmed) 2) Disturbing use of telephone Would I be able to come to USA/UK if i marry an indian citizen girl studying /working there ?
