my name is Mohammed Adnan, i am not born n residing in india and faced too many issues of not having my surname on any of my document. i need to adopt my mother surname as my father also dont have any legal document of his surname. please advise me can i adopt my mother's surname ?----------- if you are not born in india then you need to tell me regarding which country you belong. every country has different ways for change of name.

If you are living in India legally means the actual period required for getting Indian citizenship,by publishing your required surname you can adopt that
surname.every state has their publishing gazet,every month they publish it ,paying subscription of it,u can adopt surname

It will be proper if you take paid consultancy to compensate the lawyer's stock-in-trade required to advise you. The fact you had mentioned it is not practically possible to give legal solution to ur problem.
