Police asking for affidavit to file a complain can I write it myself

My wallet was stolen in a bus. It contained my college id, voter id, aadhar card and 2 credit cards. When i went to the police station to file a report, they asked me to get affidavit made. So my question is that can i write the affidavit on my own or need to get it written and signed from someone? And also please tell who that someone can be?
Affidavits are not required while filing a police complaint. They're merely averting their duty by making you do such mundane tasks. Hire a criminal Advocate and take him along with you to the station.
