Grandfather of 74 years served punishment of 1.5 month till date.

This is regarding my grand father who is 74 years old and a native of Andhra Pradesh India. There was a corruption case filed against him for Rs.400 in the year 1997. After all levels of hearing, the supreme court finally dismissed the criminal appeal recently and withheld the punishment of 1 year. He has already served the punishment for around 1.5 months previously. Now, I would like to know what are the legal options available for him given his age?
