Clarification on cheating, dowry and false promise to marriage

08-Feb-2023 (In Criminal Law)
my age 27, Caste Punjabi, Religion Hindu. I have had roka on Nov 13, 2016. Things were all good between both families. The guy is a pilot, the guys mother had multiple times said she would get us married in a day if someone gave her 50 lacs. On jan 13 the marriage date was decided by his family. Obviously marriage dates are decided mutually not over one call. My dad tried o convince the guy family for face to face meeting, they kept delaying it and then in 2 days they say marriage is been called off. I try to connect with guy, and he write me that his family needs 50 lacs, and cant say, since we both love each other i could manage this amount for him. He had sex with me post roka, and another 3 times post that, saying u cant deny now, we are going to get married. He has ran away and his parents are waiting for my father to beg to them. Please suggest what should i do, Does he qualifies for cheating and dowry act. If yes then how should i proceed

As per Dowry prohibition Act 1961, No one can demand dowry before or after marriage and if it's proved it is punishable offence. So far as demand of sexual intercourse and cheating in connection with dowry before marriage by groom or anyone can also punishable! You can contact me for details please.

This matter qualifies for rape under 376 of IPC apart from a few others. That being said, the charge once carefully filed would make his world upside down. Do check my mail in sometime and let's take it from there so we get to a closure. Hence, please find my email and act accordingly.

yes, he and his family liable for prosecution under Dowry Act and also under cheating
you should give sufficient evidence regarding demand of dowry and denial of marriage
its non bailable offence you can lodge F.I.R. at Police if police did not lodge you can further make complaint to S.P and there after no action took place you can file private complaint in Judicial Magistrate Court

Hello madam.
I feels sad to hear what happened with u.
Dowry is a social stigma on our society but when an educated person does the same it feel bad.
In ur case u can file case against the boy and the family members under the Indian penal code and also under the dowry prohibition act and other forums.
Also the answer to ur questions is yes the person's have committed offence under cheating dowry demand and other sections of IPC.
Regards
