Registration of NGO to run hostel for deprived and weaker section

We as a registered NGO wants to open a Hostel for working people related to lower section of society through Membership fess <1000 Rs per month or on only maintenance charges . Let me know the registration rules. should we inform to Police or which Govt body. Record keeping guide lines etc.

your question is not clear on the point that you have got the NGO registered or not. In case you dont have a registered NGO you are first required to form a SOCIETY or alternatively you can register a Trust. In case you want a society you have to approach Registrar- Firms, Chits and Societies of your area and in case of a trust you will have to approach Registry office of your area. And after the society/ trust is registered you can do the work as desired by you.
Informing the police or local bodies is not a big task as you just have to give a letter to them,

To register a NGO you've to move the necessary documentation together with an application requesting registration before the Deputy Registrar, Societies of your region. You need at least seven members to register a NGO.
