Need guidance on cheque bounce

a person gave me a cheque of 4 lakh and then two days ago when i went to deposit the cheque ..the bank told about insufficient ballance.. now what should i do.. he is at london these days.. his mobile number is out of reach..now what should i do..

Where ever he is. You are not to worry about it. You should deposit the cheque in your own account by crossing it, so that it is credited to your account. If it gets dishonoured, you contact the Advocate for proper action. No need to see whether there is money in his account or not

First of all U deposit the cheque. When bank return your cheque then , from date of return within one month U have to give a notice to opposite party under negotiable instrument act.
Then after service of notice I can file a case.

you compulasary give the notice for cheque bounce for insufficient balance to the issuing person within the monthe from the date of cheque bounce. then after on complition of fifteen days file the complaint before the court and preys for criminal proceedings and breach of sec. 138 of Negotiable instruments Act.
