To recover my money from my friend

I gave my money to one of my friend. Without any documents or cheques. But now he is telling me that he will sign for 100rs stamp duty. But is that legal and will my receive my money. Please help me to know
receiveif you enter agreement you have to register for executing before civil court so better option is preferring the cheque so tht even it's bounced you can file directly case and it's summary case even it's not take too much time to complete .
