In your case the refund can be initiated through Legal Recourse as it had been seen that various institution keep the amount unethically thus in your case a statutory complaint/notice can be sent. We can approach the court to claim the relief’s.

1 - Check Written Proof First confirm you have: • Receipt of ₹30,000 payment • Email / WhatsApp message where you informed before 31 Aug 2025 • Any brochure / message mentioning refund policy • Call recording (if available) Even if assurance was oral, your timely written intimation helps you. ⸻ 2️⃣ Send a Formal Legal Notice (Very Important Step) Send a legal notice through an advocate demanding refund within 15 days. Mention: • Date of payment • Assurance of refund • Date you informed about cancellation • Their refusal • That their act amounts to deficiency of service and unfair trade practice Often colleges refund after receiving legal notice. ⸻ 3️⃣ File Complaint in Consumer Court Education institutions fall under Consumer Protection Act, 2019 for refund disputes. You can file complaint in: District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in your district or where college is located. You can claim: • ₹30,000 refund • Interest • Compensation for harassment • Legal costs Court fees are very minimal.

Yes, you may approach the Consumer Forum. If the college assured that the amount would be refundable in case admission is taken elsewhere and you informed them within the stipulated time, refusal to refund may amount to deficiency in service and unfair trade practice. You can first send a legal notice demanding refund of ₹30,000 with proof of payment, email/WhatsApp communication, and assurance given by the college. If they still refuse, a complaint can be filed before the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission seeking refund, compensation, and litigation costs.

yes, you may send legal notice to the college and university and then file a recovery suit (recommended) against the college and the university should also be made party to the suit to recover your money, and you should avoid filing a consumer case.
