I am in need of a Release/Relinquish deed from him for a property. nnPlease may i know if "Wife/Children of predeceased brother" qualify as Family for Stamp duty and Registration charges for Release deed in Bangalore? nnOr should i pay 5% of market value?nnThank you

As per Article 45 of the the Karnataka Stamp Act, 1957 stamp duty of Rs. 1,000 is required to be paid for the purposes of a release deed between family members. Further, the explanation to the referred provision states, that the wife/children of a predeceased brother also fall within the definition of family for the purposes of Article 45.
