Unable to repay the amount, gave somebody else good as a security

02-Sep-2023 (In Property Law)
Sir my dad took some amount from someone and that person paid in cheque . Now after 8 years he came to sue us so my dad was not in position to repay money allowed him to keep his goods in his shop but after 2 year we realized that we are not owner and we use to pay rent and if landlord knows about it can sue us anytime , so now we refused to keep his goods and that person is saying he will sue us for the amount taken almost after 6-8 years . SO PLEASE SAY WHAT STEPS WE CAN TAKE TO PROTECT OUR SELF.

if you dont want to keep the goods you can deny him from keeping it, he cannot sue you for that. and on what basis can he file a case against you after 8 years there is always a limitation period and he has barred that limitation period, you dont need to worry in case he harasses you, you can file a complaint against him
