Transfer of tenancy rights and benefits of redevelopment

05-Oct-2023 (In Property Law)
On death of my father, if I transfer his tenancy in my name, will I get benefits of redevelopment when it happens. I have not stayed there for last 30 years but been staying in my own house.

This is my response to you:
1. If it is self-acquired property then you will get benefits along with other legal heirs;
2. You must also, first vet your documents to a local lawyer;
3. If there are terms and conditions that heirs will be entitled to share etc, then you have no problems;
4. Also you can ask your father to either make a Gift Deed or a Will in your favour;
5. You can consult a local lawyer to understand the problem better.
