Advocate trying to blackmail me and my father who is 75 yrs old

18-Feb-2023 (In Property Law)
approached an Advocate at Tis Hazari court. On November 2, 2019 and asked him the fee for my case and he gave it to me writing on a blank sheet of paper with all the photo copies that I need to submit plus the breakdown as Court fee (as per calculation) , Documentation fee for typing, photo copy , summon, etc as Rs 5000 and pleading cost- Rs 15000, Evidence Rs 15000, Arguments- Rs 15000. So he said while filing the case it will have to be 15000+ Court Fee which came to Rs 22000 at that time, now after he said we will file the case on Feb 20, 2020 and he said you come with Rs 60,000. I spoke to him how come it has increased he started making excuses, so I told him I cannot bear all this cost as there is a mismatch with what was agreed upon, he refused to agree. So I said fine take your consultation fee and give me back my file that I gave you and close the case. Now he is threatening that I have to pay him Rs 45000 then only he will give the file and he says you are liable to pay.

no you are not liable to pay him any amount of there is no such contract you can just pay him consultation. If the advocate is doing any such thing he can be reported to the bar council if you have proof. Further we practice in the tis hazari court and can help you with the same case our main aim is to help the client and rather than harassing the client also we can deal with the advocate on your behalf
