Can NRI get marriage certificate without being present in India?


19-Jan-2023 (In NRI Law)
I got married on Dec 01, 2021 in Chandigarh.My parents live in Delhi. I work and live in USA and could not get marriage certificate when I was in India. Now I am back in USA and need marriage certificate to apply for passport re-issue (with married status change) as its about to expire in 6 months. Is it possible to get certificate from India online or some other way can my parents get it for me?

In many states, you can apply for marriage registration through offline mode only but in Delhi, you can apply for registration certificates through online also. few documents such as identity proof, address proof is required. other than this you require two witnesses and their identity proof and address proof.

you need to be physically present for getting the marriage registered. but if you cannot come you can attach the affidavit in the passport application for the re issue. they can manage with the affidavit.
