Wife does not want to work but employer asking for 3 month salary

03-Oct-2023 (In Labour & Service Law)
My wife joined a reputed school in Chennai as a teacher. She signed a letter of 'terms and conditions' while joining the school which has a clause stating that if she wants to resign before 2 years she needs to pay 3 months salary. She worked for 1 day and decided not to continue working in that school. Now the school management is asking to pay 3 months salary to get back the original certificate which was submitted during the time of joining. Are we suppose to pay the amount to get back the certificate because we have signed a document. Please advice.

No, there is other way to get your certificates. you read the terms and conditions and you knew about it and then after you signed the contract with the school. you cannot violate the contract you have signed.
