Wife attempted suicide to force me to remarry by social tradition?

17-Aug-2023 (In Family Law)
Dear sir, I am a govt employee and married to my wife on 30-04-21. Soon after marriage wife's parents put a condition that girl will go with husband only when he remarry her with our traditions. My wife often used to threat me to commit suicide if i came her home alone to take her with me. He told that i will go with you only when you come with barat. Sir, my parents were against with this marriage. Now I am unable to persuade them to take barat. Recently she came to my living place from her parental home and attempted suicide to get me in legal trouble and force me to fulfill her demand. By threating me to case against me for abetment to suicide she managed to get me written that I will come to her home with barat to remarry her with her traditions. I am in extreme grief thinking of my career. Please suggest me what should I do? Can now I am legally bound to remarry her? Can I face reverse consequences if deny to remarry her again? Thanks in advance

Marriage done once is sufficient. Legally you are not required to marry her, since until the marriage is dissolved for a y reason, she shall remain your wife. regarding the threats she has been giving you, you may report the same to the police for necessary action.

If you are hindu religion abiding citizen, then social marriage is always preferable. However if at the outset of your marriage, it has been done only on papers or secluded from the society and thereafter you both lived as husband and wife in the society then she can’t compel you for marrying her again. However if she is threatening you for suicide so please take the help from your local police station. For any further legal assistance please feel free to contact Thanks
