We want to know if we can get married under the Hindu marriage act
09-Feb-2025 (In Family Law)
Me and my boyfriend recently discovered that his paternal grandmother (dadi) is my maternal grandmother's (nani) maternal uncle's (mama) daughter, so basically they are first cousins which makes us 3rd cousins, we want to get married but we are worried if we can or not, our families don't know yet, we are Jat, we don't know what to do
The marriage will be illegal as per Hindu marriage act.
but still if u want to get married than u have to either convince your family or You have to leave the idea of marriage.
Else the only option left is Either of you have to convert to another religion then only the marriage can be solemnized.

If both of you are majors, meaning you are above 18 and the boy is above 21, then you both can get married. Legally, you will be considered husband and wife. There is no provision in the law that prohibits marriage between third cousins. Your age is what matters. If both of you are majors, you can legally marry.
