Nowadays you can always apply for a legal heir certificate online also. For that you need the death certificate of the deceased and the relationship proof of yours. You also need to furnish a NOC from other heirs of your father if you wish to transfer the amount in your mother's account. For more legal assistance I am just a call away.

You would require a succession certificate from the court and for that you need to get a petition filed through a lawyer under section 272 of the succession act before the District Judge. Death certificate and surviving member certificate you would require to file the petition

if mother is competent enough the. the surviving member certificate is required. Legal heir or succession certificate is required if there is a will which needs to be presented before the court. The cost of obtaining depends on the legal assistance you seek to avail from a competent lawyer. The document cost in sdm office though does not cost too much
