Right to work and stay away from parents

28-Jun-2023 (In Family Law)
I am a 27 year old woman living with my family in Madurai. I was working in Madurai for the last 2 years. Can I leave Madurai to work in other cities. As I am unmarried will the police interfere in this, that I should live with my parents ? Living in my hometown is not an issue but my family wants to control me like, they talked to my superiors in the organization I was working and they terminated me from the job. Now they are beating me to agree to marry the guy they like.

You are a major and above it you are 27 years old. You can have the freedom to choose your own way of living. Your parents cannot interfere legally. If at all they file a false complaint, nobody can force you to do something which you do not want to do. You are also free to move. But try to find out about the reason for your parents' behaviour.

since you are major you can work/live anywhere. If your parents are aged and has no income to survive, then it is their children should take care of them with utmost care and love, but they cannot force you to marry a person to whom you don't like.
