29-Nov-2023 (In Family Law)
Iam a doctor.i graduated in 2020. Took an year off and prepared for my pg . I got a decent rank . But I come under general merit as both of my parents are government employees . Now my parents are refusing to pay for a government seat in private college. Do I have the right to ask them to pay for my higher education.

Dear Sir/Madam, In case of daughters the parents are obliged to meet the expenses of daughter till her marriage. Whereas, in case of sons the responsibilities of parents to educate them ends if they attain age of majority. After that it becomes only moral responsibility of the parents either to educate the son or not. Please meet me in persons for more discussions.

As we see by your question that you have attained majority by your age. As such you have no right to seek maintenance from them. But there is only way that, if you have any ancestral properties then you can seek for a partition of the properties and take your share.
