Ran away from home due to parents pressure and domestic violence

10-Aug-2023 (In Family Law)
I am 26 years old and also a working woman. My parents were forcing and beating me to get married. So I ran away from home and staying safely somewhere. Now my parents lodged a complaint that I am missing. Police called me and I told them I am safe and my life is not safe with them that is why I escaped my home. Now police want me to come that station and to give them a written letter that I am safe and don't want to go with my parents. I am so afraid that if I go to my place they will do something to before entering into the police station. Please advise me what I can do?

You are a major and you are entitled to take your own decision. If your parents lodged a missing complaint which is a serious issue you need produce yourself before police and make statements in writing so that the complaint can be closed. Take the assistance of an advocate while going to the police station. Nobody can force you to go with your parents as long as you are safe.

You can always visit the police station with the help of one Lawyer who can guide you through the legal steps that has to be followed. As an adult you are entitled to seek your own life without the intervention of your parents. Please let me know the name of the Police Station date on which day of asked you to appear in person.
