There is no general law preventing a married woman from visiting her parents, going on vacation, or going outside merely because her in-laws live with her. She has the right to move freely and maintain relationships with her parents. If the in-laws’ conduct is causing harassment, intimidation, or controlling behaviour, document the incidents and consider appropriate legal remedies depending on the facts. It may also be useful to address the issue through counselling or family mediation if the situation permits.
