You should not deny your husbands request as there is a Supreme Court judgement that a wife has to mandatory live with husbands parents, if the wife refuses it is a valid ground for divorce, try to shuttle between both the houses.

No you are not bound to do so. It is purely upon the choice of both of you, because both of you may be decided it to live separate till the completion of your study. And I think the marriage in between you was held without permission of your Parent's. However, Now I talk about what the Law say. Law say at present you are the wife of that person, and if you are not willing to resides with him, he can file Suit/Case against you either to cancel the said Marriage, by filling Nullity of Marriage or to file Case for Conjugal Right for pass an order against you to go to your matrimonial house. In such situation, what can you do? So, my advised you to settled this problem amicably, peacefully otherwise, your marriage will dissolve soon. So, take care.

Hello, If the registry marriage has been done that means you both are husband and wife in the eye of law and both of you entitled to consummate the marriage. Though, There is a practice as said by you. Ask your parents to talk his parents and make them understand that you shall go to the in - laws house only after social marriage.

Dear Mam, your question is very confusing. I think you are misconceived about marital status. you have already completed a valid legal marriage. No further ceremony is necessary for your marriage. Reception party or in your word any "public marriage" is not a pre-condition to go to your matrimonial house. If you want to stay in relationship try to convince your husband that both of you will suffer if you go his home before completing your studies. Otherwise, separate yourself from his society and consult with a lawyer for legal measures.
