My In Laws tortures me mentally and provoke my husband against me

I am a Hindu, Brahmin girl. Married 6 years ago and have 2 kids. My In laws torture me and they do not care about me. Even if I do whatever they say. I always take care of them. Working since morning to night even then they torture me abuse me and say bad things about me and my family members. They don't allow me to meet socially not even to my father's house or any function of my family function. They say bad things and show tantrums if someone from my father and mother relatives come to meet me. They do not even care if food is enough left for me or not. They also provoke my husband to not talk to me. Saying lie about me and situations so that my husband shouts at me and talks badly. No one talks to me with respect. They treat me like their slave. They do not give me money for basic needs not even for the treatment of my and children's bad health. Note: I am her brother submitting this on behalf of my sister. Above is her present condition. Please reply.

If your family members despite of your best efforts are not treating you well, I would advise you to opt for family counselor. He would listen to both the sides and provide worthwhile solutions. However if the situation remains the same and you are still being harassed at the hands of your in-laws I would advise you to file an application under Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act and for maintenance under S.125 Cr.P.C. The acts of your in-laws amount to mental cruelty. You can approach court for reliefs such as maintenance money, separate residence orders, prohibitory orders against husband etc. This application should be filed in the District Court of your location. Appoint an advocate to take care of formalities.
However I would also like to tell you that this application often has adverse effect on the relationship between you and your in-laws. Your husband might parallely file divorce petition in family court. Proceed only if you believe that there is no chance of reconciliation and if your hardships are so intense that it is impossible for you to reconcile.

Immediately go to police and file complaint under s. 498A IPC. Also file petition before magistrate under Domestic Violence Act and do also file application for maintenance under s. 125 CrPC. If in-laws and husband persist in their misbehavior against your sister then file petition of divorce. Keep supporting your sister.
