Mental and physical abuse by father

I belong to a Hindu family. My father has been physically and verbally abusive towards my mother and me for quite few years. Recently my mom there suspected him of having an affair where I indulged to find out any details by contacting the alleged lady's adult daughter. Things did not respond well and they sued me with ipc 499, following which I provided and unconditional apology. Again now, 2 days back, my father through email threatens me of misconduct and that he will be files suits against me. I have a written document duly signed by my mother that defends and nullifies all his blames. Can I file an FIR for harrassment now?
It is totally a family internal matter so as per my opinion its better to solve it by having a discussion with your father.If the above mentioned way does not work out or if the harassment still continues then you file a written complaint before your local police station.

Both you and your mother file domestic violence case and seek for protection orders, residence orders as well as you can obtain maintenance order from court, best way to teach your father a lesson, moreso, you can lodge an FIR but filing domestic violence case will help both you and your mother as court is very strict and seek orders from court that your father has to opt for a different place to stay
