From the facts you have mentioned, this situation amounts to mental cruelty and possible dowry harassment. You have several legal remedies available under Indian law. Firstly, you can file a complaint under Section 498A IPC for cruelty and dowry demand against your husband and in-laws.

on the above mentioned query please clear that where are you residing at present. if you are residing with your husband and in-laws, then there is a problem arises when you take legal steps like domestic violence and dowry demand, because when the notice served on your husband and in-laws then they may bullying you and create issue with your child. but if you residing seperate from your husband and in-laws then you have to file a complaint against your husband and in-laws under dowry demand and domestic violence and a case against your husband for maintenance.

Your situation is serious, and it is legally actionable. You do not have to tolerate this. From what you have described— • Continuous taunting and mental harassment • Demand of dowry • Non-payment of daily expenses • Husband’s neglect under family influence —all of this falls under cruelty and domestic violence. Your legal protections You can take action under: • Section 498A IPC – for cruelty and dowry harassment • Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 – for mental, emotional, and economic abuse What you can claim (very important) Under Domestic Violence Act, you can seek: • Monthly maintenance (for you and your son) • Right to reside in matrimonial home (you cannot be forced out) • Protection order (to stop harassment) • Compensation for mental cruelty Practical approach (do not rush blindly) If you want to save the marriage, start with: • Legal notice / complaint through Protection Officer • Counseling or mediation (through court process) If situation is unbearable or unsafe: • File complaint under 498A + DV Act • Seek immediate protection and maintenance Important precautions • Start keeping proofs (messages, recordings, witnesses) • Do not leave house without documenting reason • Keep your and your child’s documents safe Reality What you are facing is not “family adjustment” — it is legal cruelty. And since a child is involved, your financial and residential security becomes priority. Final advice Do not delay. These matters worsen with time. We have handled many such matrimonial disputes where: • Either settlement was reached safely • Or strong legal protection + maintenance was secured If you want proper guidance on whether to proceed with DV case, 498A, or settlement strategy, I can guide you step-by-step and even prepare your complaint. legal routes you have: 1.Dowry Prohibition Act: Demanding dowry after marriage is criminal. File an FIR under Section 3/4 DPA against your in-laws. 2.IPC Section 498-A: Taunting, dowry demands, and financial non-support constitute cruelty by husband/in-laws. This is a cognizable offense. 3.Domestic Violence Act, 2005: The fastest option. File for protection order, residence order, and maintenance. This Act prioritizes your safety and your son's welfare without requiring criminal proceedings.
