Legal issues on Marriage called off

I am 37 year old male Govt officer. Marriage was fixed and Roka done. Gifts and Shagun was exchanged. However, just few days before marriage, the marriage was called off. Now, girl side is demanding money for their expenses made for marriage. Kindly guide what is the solution.

You should contact your middleman for doing the needful. And if there’s no middleman or he/she don’t want to get into all these issues then you can always serve her a legal notice regarding your grievances asking for compromise according to the proper code of conduct. Firstly, the party who called off the marriage must have no say in demanding money for expenses that already occurred. Expenses made for the arrangements must have been agreed upon by both and the decision must be personally taken. Hence, there is no right of any party to ask for reimbursement of expenses. It can be amicably settled by writing down expenses made by both.

You need to hire an expert advocate in this regard to get a normal legal notice Issue else they may file case for cheating, breach of trust etc on you guys n even got dowry demand ! Thanks n b in touch yo understand the legalities

Dear client In this case, you must file an NCR before the territorial jurisdiction where you are currently placed/where the rook was done. In case any false case is filed you’ll need to move for an anticipatory bail and also for quashing of such falsely registered FIR feel free to get in touch to discuss further.
