Is it legal to elope with a girl who is already engaged?

i love a girl who is already engaged to another boy. she also love me. She got engaged just for family respect and then i came in her life and we both love each other. now after few days, her family is planning for her marriage. she doesnt want to marry him. we want to run away and marry each other. Is it legal or will we face any legal problems?
If You are both age complated for marriage You can marriage without his familys permission. Under the Special marriage act. but his family can't will given permission. This time family situation is vary important otherwise after marriage life will given any family problem.
