I am govt official, I adopted baby is I eligible for maternity live of

I am government high school Teacher, I adopted twins, is maternity leave 180 days applicable to me or not please guide me. Thank you.

Dear Sir, It seems the maternity leave does not apply to adoptive parents unless the children are so small which he requires immediate attention and rearing up. If such condition is satisfied you may fight for maternity leave. If your department not allowing you to allowing such leave then you may go to service tribunal and get appropriate relief.

yes. maternity leave is applicable to you also. the school is bound to give you maternity leave of 12 weeks if the child is below 3 years of age. if refused you can serve legal notice and approach the high court by writ petition. thank you
