Husband, with no earnings at all, trying to sell Inherited Property

16-Aug-2023 (In Family Law)
I am a Hindu. I was married to my husband 12 years ago. I have two children, a girl and a boy. My husband does not take care of family and children both financially and mentally. Whenever I ask him to be responsible of the family, he stops coming home for months and then come back on his own. Later, I stopped asking him anything. He was settled two plots by my mother-in-law and brother-in-laws, which was originally procured by my late father-in-law. I constructed a house in one of the plots using my jewels, PMAY subsidy and personal debt. Now, my husband is asking for 7 lakh rupees from my father for his debt. Also, he threatens me to sell the new house (since the plot was in his name) for his debt, if my father does not give money. nHe does not spend a penny for the family so far. He does not answer why he had to get such a huge money. nI do not know what to do. Please provide me with legal advice. nThanks in advance.

Depending on your specific scenario and those of your children you can claim maintenance from your husband. Your husband received properties from your father in law and the same will entitle you to make a claim over it. If intolerable you can also file a dowry harassment complaint, domestic violence case to protect the interests of your children and that of yours.
