Husband torturing both mentally and physically

Sir, My husband is frequently torturing me physically. It has been happening continuously since marriage. This time he slapped me, pushed me on floor and attacked me physically continuously for more than half an hour. We are Hindu Brahmins. He fights whenever I ask him give back our cash and jwellery. Is there a solution without divorce? I am being treated as a non living thing at home. Our daughter is being thus taken care of by my parents as he denied to take our responsibility at the time of her birth. His mother asked my parents to give them all the property and my parents could not. He threatens to kill me if I make a police complaint. I don't know what to do. He treats me very well infront of others, so I don't find a way to handle him at personal level. I have noticed that he shows himself to be the simplest person in front of others. I am thus very helpless. I am never aware of his timings his holidays, not even aware if he will come home at night or not.
