Getting married in register office

19-Jul-2023 (In Family Law)
Hello sir/Madam, I am currently in Europe and I am planning to get married in India with the girl found by my family with the consent of both families. Due to unforeseen circumstances of covid, we are planning to have a small engagement ceremony and exchange rings. After this, we are planning to get married in the register office in our town. Me and my fiancee is a hindu and we both belong to the same community. Could you please tell me whether I can marry in the register office? There are lot of confusions surrounding this. Few of my friends are saying that, I need to tie the knot and get married before registering the marriage in the office. But, as mentioned, we would like to keep it simple by just exchanging rings and officially marry in the register office. Please help me with your advice on the possibility of getting married in the register office? And the process pertaining to get married this process? Thank you!

You both being Hindu, you can tie knot in a nearby temple and you will get a receipt. Then you can proceed to the register office to register the marriage. Tying knot in front of the deity is much better than doing the same in front of some official. You, fiancee and parents from both sides are enough at the temple. It's as simple as that.
