Friend got engaged and broke engagement what action can be taken

My friend got enggaged with this girl and the enggagement got placed in between parents from both side but on a condition that my friends family will send girl to study visa. When the visa came and they asked for marriage they refused and started making excuses that first they will let goes abriad after then they will call her back nad then they will marry the girl with my friend but in truth they doestn want to make any arrangements for the marriage when they refuse to give the passport of the girl and asked first they have to marry thier with their son and then they will allow the girl to go for abroad and in rwturn the girl parents said they will give ur money back and they dont want this realtionship to go any further and told my friends parent that thier son is mad they dont like him any more whereas on the otherside boy loved her so much and got emotionally attached with the girl and girl comes in her parents talk and refuse to marry my friend now what kind of action can b taken

Hello .... Dear your quary itself not create any sence or to make/give any legal sugesssion. I mean first clear your quary properly and if possible you can arrange/with the help of any docs if there any possibility as documents.

Basically Hindu marriages are not contracts so there is no liability as breach of promise. I suggest you part the ways with her at earlier stage as the marriage would result in more adverse consequences in matrimonial as well as legal aspects .Gather few adults from both the families and community and resolve the issue and get over that emotions...hope that will help

It's very complicate situation, generally marriage contracts are not enforceable but if you have given some article or cash amount for marriage purpose then you have right to recover the same. For more clarification you may come and will discuss entire things.
