Complaint against aunt for putting the false allegations on mother

My aunt usually use to put wrong allegation to my mother having relation with my father's younger brother which to everyone's knowledge in my city is false. She is harming the dignity and respect of my mother. She uses abusive language against her and use to threaten her. We use to stay separately, but in the same city. Please help me out to get out of the situation and help me to save the respect and dignity
You can file a defamation suit against your aunt for harming your mother’s reputation. Whoever, by words either spoken or intended to be read, or by signs or by visible representations, makes or publishes any imputation concerning any person intending to harm, or knowing or having reason to believe that such imputation will harm, the reputation of such person, is said, to defame that person.
