Can my mother ask me the money my father spent on my education loan

05-Jun-2023 (In Family Law)
My father spent his lifetime savings of 11 lakhs in 2011 to relieve me from my Engineering & mba education loan and since 2011 I am the only earning member in my family. My parents were always dependant on me since they never had any alternate income. I secured a Govt job in 2011 and I currently earn 68k a month. After my fathers death in 2016 my mother stayed with me or my sister but past 2 years she is staying with my sister and I sent her approx 90k in past 12 months. I have proof in bank statement. I have never taken any money from my mother neither did I receive any property or asset from my parents or grand parents. I am completely self made and a common citizen. But despite my monthly contribution (I sent her approx 90k in past 12 months) she is asking me to pay her the amount my father spent on my education (11 lakhs) in cash. Neither I have that kind of resource or asset. Is there is any legal help for me?

you need to handle this technically so that you do not loose out on the rest of the money or assests that will automatically come to you, no you are not bound to return the same it may be a plan of someone else which she is executing under pressure, discussion is very necessary

90k -12 months - turns out you send her approx 8k and add per months. keep sending her the money and since you are in govt job, I assume your mother's medical expenses are covered by you as well as your dependent. I do not see any reason for you to worry. even if your mother files a Court case to recover the 11 lakh it wouldn't be possible for her to get any relief. it's my primary reading of your case based on the information you provided so far.
